Everyone,

We’ve reached a space in the world now, where in order to have any true peace at all, it’s become imperative to stop seeing things from one side only so that we are able to effectively communicate and bridge. I mean no Torus Link-related puns when I say in all seriousness that we need to see things from two dimensions at once.

And… in our current, widespread, social lack of doing this overall… things have reached the point where I can only move forward in my story now if others at large truly can see things from a MULTIDIMENSIONAL perspective.

As, while I’m grateful for ALL of the support from those who have ever given to Torus Link’s cause, (as well as those of you who continue to here and now,) it’s simply calling it as it is that the numbers have been too few to create enough momentum to influentially cross this gap in shared UNDERSTANDING with one another. i.e. It’s not even a “money” thing at this stage anymore. While every dollar has always helped me be able to march ever-on, telling this story at the rate it has gone; so would I keep continuing this comic at “a hobbyist’s pace” if that was all there was to the state of matters in our world. If a comic you can simply enjoy for your reading pleasure was all this ever gets to be…that WOULD almost be fine…

…Except we’re not in a space anymore that ANYTHING is fine now in the world. Hence me blasting this as practically a title itself on the front page, and this message now standing at both ends of where the comic currently is so far. It’s just that imperative if things are going to be FIXED now, above all.

Not long ago, I’d begun to see the writing on the wall of our social state when Covid occurred… the hallmarks of so much of our one-sidedness apparent… and soon after, given a dear friend’s death truly illuminating this to me, our collective absent ability to hold pain and empathy together. I still fought to keep telling my comic’s story and sharing what I could to bridge this gap. Change things. Following the links I could, and did have: for instance, a tarot deck that you can see and use for free on this site; an “elemental eating guide” to help you steady your own nutrition and be better able to help others as you go. All while telling the central story of Torus Link itself at the pace I humanly can.

But here and now, things haven’t gotten better. They instead keep crashing up to the ninth with everyone around me— far beyond the status anymore of it even being ABOUT my comic at all. It has become a state of people objectively not being able to take in almost anything at all with THEMSELVES, never mind what I myself even attempt to make— because they don’t look to two sides in their own LIVES, let alone measuring a third dimension of the links between them!

Which, as a result… so many now are fragmenting to the point of sprawling and creating messes that impact EVERYONE AROUND. I can’t tell you how many obscene fires I have been having to put out in the past week alone at the time of this writing, just to keep WALKING— specifically and OBJECTIVELY because those who started the fires did not see beyond one SOLE side in their minds instead of integrating the matter as a whole. I wish I were describing this just metaphorically— it’s been literal TOO. How many MORE trips to the EMS, I can’t even say… with car wrecks, fire fighters called, fights BARELY evaded, and regard for personal boundaries… well, let’s just say, “Ha” to that one.

Let alone more deaths… More FINAL tragedies.

That’s not a matter of being SOLVED by me saying, “Please come read what I’m creating here.” If you’re not vested in looking outside of a single perception alone, mine can’t even reach you TO be ingested in the first place— I don’t care HOW many sides Torus Link has. It’s why, pure and simple, I’ve GREATLY scaled back on ‘standard’ attempts to advertise what I’m doing at all anymore— on social media, in shops, with videos or crowd-raising… what have you. I’ve observed just far too many people– not bad people, mind you, who LOOK, sure, if my work crosses their line of sight… but do not SEE. Do not register. To an alarming degree that’s more than just an individual… “Eh, not my thing.”

So is it also not, in all fairness to consider, me simply “not telling my story right, so people just don’t get it.” And I’ll own the facts as they fully are: I’m a one-woman-team doing EVERYTHING I CAN, apart from Patreon support as it stands– so my own execution absolutely can and DOES have flaws. I’m doing WAY more than one person alone should have to do— but credit where credit is due… ALSO not to the extent where my work is illegible/unintelligible. This is BEYOND what I can control by producing anything “better.” If I look anywhere past even the SCANTEST surface of not only people who ‘bypass my comic,’ but as good as EVERY OTHER PERSON IN GENERAL VIEW… everyone’s falling apart. They’re just as often not even seeing that 2 + 2 = 4 anymore for how dissonant and fragmented they are… versus whether or not this is all somehow about, “I could have gotten to this plot point quicker, or drawn that detail more precisely.”

Which… at this stage… I’m saying it pointedly: if you know, you STRAIGHT UP know what I’m talking about—I don’t need to name further examples of how dissonant people are now becoming.

It is a matter that here and now… while there are MANY of my peers saying they can’t continue their stories unless they have more money, more time, more publicity, more interaction with what they’re doing… (And all of those things, don’t get me wrong, are valid reasons…) Where my story bridges with the real world intertwined with a fantasy aspect to give a message… it needs viewers who can see BOTH sides clearly in order to register COMBINED truths. Which, I don’t even mean that of my COMIC’s sides. I mean within themselves, and about the world at large now.

Someone who can look at their own peril and RECOGNIZE how someone somewhere else is feeling it the exact same as them, because none of us are that detached— even if in a different field, religion, country, culture, language, line of work.
Someone who can look at someone else doing something that irritates them, or even outright UPSETS them, and still stop and question whether or not they have a REASON for it, versus dismissing all potential answers beyond, “They’re a terrible person, and that’s what they want to do because they aren’t righteous like I am.”
Someone who can look at THEMSELVES and say, “If I’m doing something, is that perhaps contributing to my own position here with someone else?”
And most of all… someone who can look at the mechanics of things as they objectively are… instead of bypassing objectivity because of an emotional hurt. Even where it’s harshest, still STRIVE to see fairly and holistically versus partially and reactively.

This may seem controversial, but more than simply someone enjoying my story for what it is… there’s no being able to HELP us get out of this fragmentation without more people who WANT these terms. Let alone thus, to see what my story grasps towards that effect. So… to this… although I couldn’t announce it right away, because I had to be very… very…. VERY damn sure over these past few months that YES this is the matter of the environment now… frankly having truly observed it for almost the past year…

I both understand and accept that a pivot has to be logistically made. For now, and for the next foreseeable “fortnight in comic terms,” public page production for Torus Link is going to pause. Even though I officially have enough pages outlined to continue working on Volume 2, I’m only going to be able to SUCCESSFULLY continue with my story’s actual mission if more people reach out to me… unto wanting to end this fragmented calamity THEY can see in THEIR communities too.

I intend to let this message stay up for a while, not least so that those who come to this page can clearly see it. The site itself of course will stay up so that ALL of Torus Link’s available content stays viewable. Behind the scenes, I will personally be working the best I can on how to reach more people who want to see this change. As, because this is no longer a standard time; most people no longer registering outside of a single viewpoint now… the way I reach at all can’t truly be done via standard means. So, I can’t pretend I know how it’s done on my own. I can only try my best and see, if at all, what links to me as I do.
